14 New Marvel Movies Coming In 2021 & Beyond

1. X-Men

Fantastic Four
Marvel

Much like Kevin Feige used last year's San Diego Comic-Con to confirm that Marvel Studios had plans to introduce the Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Feige also used this platform to similarly announce that the X-Men are likewise looming large on the horizon of the MCU.

Again, the X-Men movie property and license is another which was picked up by Disney as part of the 21st Century Fox purchase. How and when Xavier's mutants will land in the MCU, that remains to be seen.

Whilst details on Marvel and Disney's plans for a Fantastic Four picture remain minimal, even less is known about their plans for the X-Men. Feige actually stated that there are plans to develop several future movies based around mutants, and that the X-Men are just one such group of mutants that will be spotlighted.

One piece of information that we do know, however, is that the MCU incarnation of the X-Men will be different to what we've already seen served up by 21st Century Fox over the past two decades.

With the multiverse soon to be at play, the X-Men could already be out there fighting the good fight on an alternate Earth - but if they are, don't expect to see them played by the same actors who've played these iconic characters already.

As for when this X-Men movie will be released, a realistic educated guess suggests 2024 at the earliest.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
