14 New Marvel Movies Coming In 2021 & Beyond

13. Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings

Fantastic Four
Marvel Studios

While Black Widow will be the first movie of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that will be followed in July 2021 by Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings.

To many, the character of Shang-Chi may be a complete unknown. This is a character who made his comic book bow way back in 1973 as a creation of Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin. The son of Fu-Manchu, Shang-Chi is a kung-fu expert who Marvel Comics created to capitalise on the martials arts boom of the '70s that was being spearheaded by Bruce Lee.

Some would question why Marvel Studios would choose to bring such a lesser-known character to big-screen life, but it's fair to say it worked out pretty well when it was decided to bring perennial C-listers the Guardians of the Galaxy into the MCU.

For the eagle-eyed, you'll be well aware that the Ten Rings is the terrorist organisation seen in the first two Iron Man movies and then copycatted by the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. And who should lead the Ten Rings in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings? Why, that'd be the real Mandarin.

Kim's Convenience's Simu Liu is headlining here as Shang-Chi, while In the Mood for Love's Tony Leung is tackling the Mandarin role. Short Term 12's Destin Daniel Cretton is in the director's chair.
