9. Thor: Love And Thunder

Fantastic Four
Marvel Studios

The fourth Thor picture, Thor: Love and Thunder will find a different person wielding Mjolnir. That person, will be Jane Foster.

Natalie Portman's character was entirely absent from Thor: Ragnarok, but she'll be back to take centre-stage in this May 2022 release. Pulling inspiration from the comic books, Love and Thunder will see Jane becoming the Mighty Thor - complete with all of the powers that brings along with it.

In the comics, Jane is tragically diagnosed with breast cancer, while Thor himself has lost the ability to wield Mjolnir. When a new female Thor surfaces, readers are taken on a journey of mystery and multiple suspects before the big reveal that Jane is this new incarnation of the Thunder God. Having been deemed worthy of lifting Mjolnir, Jane is able to serve as the hero Thor, although the cost of this is that each outing as Thor further accelerates her cancer.

Elsewhere, Tessa Thompson will be back as Valkyrie, the ruler of New Asgard who is on the hunt for her Queen. Yes, Thor: Love and Thunder will see the MCU shine a welcome spotlight on an LBGTQ character, which is fantastic to see.

Christian Bale will be portraying the villain of the piece, with the former Batman playing the ominous Gorr the God Butcher, but fear not, for the Guardians of the Galaxy will also be along to help fight the good fight. And for those wondering, hell yes Taika Waititi is back on directing duties.
