14 Predictions For Next Summer's Biggest Movies
10. Rampage Is A Rare Bomb For Dwayne Johnson
The Prediction: Audiences haven't been able to get enough of Dwayne Johnson in recent years, allowing him to rack up hit after hit at the box office, and even his few disappointments such as Hercules and Baywatch still effortlessly made their budgets back at least twice over before leaving cinemas.
The bubble will burst eventually, though, and it's entirely possible it might happen with next summer's Rampage, based off a video game franchise that hasn't really been relevant for over 15 years.
Johnson will play a primatologist who attempts to stop a gigantic, genetically mutated trio of animals (a gorilla, lizard and wolf) from causing mayhem across the United States. It's honestly one of those concepts that could totally go either way.
Why It Might Not Happen: In fairness, it's got Brad Peyton directing it, who steered Johnson to considerable success with both Journey 2 and San Andreas, so he certainly knows something about big-scale action, so if the budget is there, this could maybe end up a guilty pleasure B-movie. Maybe.
