14 Problems Nobody Wants To Admit About The DC Extended Universe

4. Flashpoint As The Franchise's "Reset Button"

With the recent announcement that The Flash's solo movie will be an adaptation of the much-loved Flashpoint storyline, fans have already begun speculating that the film will effectively end up soft-rebooting the DCEU, using the story's time travel-heavy nature to remove and retcon any plot and character elements that haven't been working so far.

As such, some suspect that the movie could end up recasting Bruce Wayne, Lex Luthor and The Joker, while bringing Robin and Steve Trevor brought back to life, and perhaps even delving deeper into the origins of the various Justice League members.

After X-Men: Days of Future Past popularised time travel as a reboot mechanism of sorts, it must be mighty tempting for the DCEU to pull the same trick. It's risky, and could ultimately end up alienating fans even further, and honestly, one hopes they try to fix the current issues without resorting to an easy magical fix.
