14 Problems Nobody Wants To Admit About The DC Extended Universe

3. The Canvas Is Too Big

Yes, most superhero movies are large-scale endeavours by design, but is it possible that Justice League is biting off more than it can chew in terms of its overall scope and ambition?

Despite reportedly clocking in at just 118 minutes, the film needs to introduce audiences to Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash, not to mention various new supporting characters such as Mera, Nuidis Vulko, Henry Allen, Silas Stone, Commissioner Gordon and many more.

That's without even mentioning a plot that involves Atlanteans, Amazons and Parademons, and potentially the arrival of Green Lantern in some form also. It just feels like, just as clearly happened in the bloated BvS, the DCEU has again bitten off more than it can chew, when a more stripped-down and simplistic plot and roster probably would've been more effective.

Wonder Woman managed to nail the right mix, by melding a diverse but not overwhelming cast of characters with a fairly simple narrative, but Justice League looks set to splinter off in too many different directions and potentially leave audiences more exhausted than truly entertained.
