14 Simple Fixes That Could Have Made Suicide Squad Awesome

4. Kill More Characters

The Problem

It's called Suicide Squad, it positions itself as the Dirty Dozen of the DCEU and pretty much nobody actually dies. Not even some of the characters the film definitely paints as the most expendable/pointless (Boomerang, Croc, Katana, Flag, Griggs).

That meant that they had to manipulate the kill count, by bringing in Slipknot, Monster T and GQ to kill off for effect, despite them not having any substance. The impact, inevitably was absent.

The Solution

Be braver with your kill count. Everyone came into Suicide Squad expecting the Dead Meat characters to actually be Dead Meat. Having Harley Quinn escape, and then leaving only one or two survivors at most would have been a far better option - mostly because it fits Amanda Waller's vision of success being an accomplished mission and some dead bad guys rolled into one.

As likeable as the idea of Killer Croc and Katana are, having them die in battle would have served a purpose in terms of establishing that all bets are off here. And Boomerang should have died because he was a pig (as much as I enjoyed him as a character). Literally the only people who should have survived were Harley, GQ (in order to pass on the horrors from a morally good perspective), and Deadshot.

Maybe Boomerang could have lived to get locked up again, because the last shot of him screaming in prison to be let out was a lovely moment, but you get the idea: everyone was expendable, but in the end nobody really was. (Apart from Slipknot).

And specifically...
