Why It Should Suck: It's hard to over-estimate the iconic appeal of Brian De Palma's 1983 crime thriller, which is of course propelled by Al Pacino's unforgettably volcanic central performance.

It's a film so ingrained in the brains of millions of people that attempting to remake it feels like a fool's errand, because the end product is almost certainly going to be inferior.

Plus, with original director Antoine Fuqua bailing from the project in January, it's still in search of a replacement.

Why It Might Be Awesome: There are a few promising minds behind the film, with the Coen Brothers writing the screenplay, while the role of Tony Montana will be played by the fantastic Diego Luna.

Considering that the Coens made a True Grit remake work against the odds, they should rustle up something interesting, and hopefully different, here, and Luna is at least a terrific talent. As long as he doesn't try to one-up Pacino, he should be just fine.
