14 Upcoming Movies That Will Definitely Get Cancelled

11. Gran Turismo

Sony Interactive Entertainment

The Hype: A movie adaptation based on the hit racing video game series, with Tron: Legacy and Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski attached to direct. No word on the plot or release date, though.

Why It Won't Happen: There are video game movies that make sense no matter how terrible they turned out (House of the Dead, Max Payne, Street Fighter and Warcraft to name just a few), and then there's the bizarre choice to adapt not only a racing game, but probably the most serious, rigorous racing game series on the market.

A Need for Speed movie sure as hell made sense, because it emphasised fun, brutal crashes and outrunning the cops...but Gran Turismo has zero plot, no sign of the cops, nor really anything cinematic in its being beyond the gorgeous, photo-realistic cars.

Sony will probably realise this soon enough and quietly shelve the project when people forget about its existence (if they haven't already).

Why It Still Could: The GT brand is extremely iconic and marketable, so there's definitely the potential for money to be made here, even if the games have been in financial decline for a while.
