15 Actors Who Really Wanted To Be In Comic Book Movies (And Failed)
13. Tyrese Gibson Really Wants To Play Green Lantern
In what is becoming a familiar tactic for those trying to get their name into the hat for roles in upcoming superhero movies, singer/actor Tyrese Gibson has been using social media to his advantage. Sharing mock-up pictures of himself as the Green Lantern on his Instagram page is about as close to a public declaration of interest as you can get, and it was a tactic used to great success by his Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel while lobbying for a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
No announcements have been made regarding cast for DC's 2020 Green Lantern Extended Universe instalment, though what fans are dying to find out is which version of the Green Lantern will be making an appearance. Ryan Reynolds played womanising fighter pilot Hal Jordan in the ill-fated 2011 version, though he is unlikely to reprise his role in the DCEU. The other version of the Lantern audiences are familiar with is John Stewart, who was part of Warner Brothers' animated Justice League in the early 2000s.
Stewart is a former marine who is initially chosen as a back-up Lantern for sector 1814 (Earth's home sector, to you and me) and was the version who was set to be portrayed by rapper Common in George Miller's cancelled Justice League movie.
