11. Colin Firth - Paddington

Getting to voice a character sounds like an easy gig. You just show up at the studio and record your lines. For example, Paul Bettany only worked two hours to record all his lines as JARVIS in the first Iron Man movie.

When Colin Firth was cast as the titular bear in Paddington, though, he took the role very seriously. Before recording a single line of dialogue, he met with his co-stars and visited the sets, hoping this would help with his performance. But it was all for naught.

After Firth recorded his lines as Paddington, director and writer Paul King thought nothing was out of the ordinary. However, when King heard Firth's voice come out of Paddington for the first time, it sounded jarring. King believed Firth sounded "too mature" and like an "older man", forcing him to hire Ben Whishaw to re-record all of the character's lines.

This was a bold decision, since Firth was removed only five months before Paddington hit theatres, but it worked out well, since Whishaw's performance as the marmalade-loving bear was praised and the film received universal acclaim.
