15 Awesome Death Scenes In Otherwise Terrible Movies

7. A Heroic Sacrifice - Volcano

There's nothing quite like a redemptive death scene, and that's what MTA Chairman Stan Olber (John Carroll Lynch) gets in this Razzie-nominated disaster flick.

As the lava traveling through Los Angeles reaches the train that Olber and his men are evacuating, Olber realises that the train driver is still on-board, so heads back in an effort to save him.

However, the lava has now seeped out from Olber's only exit off the train, leaving him with no apparent choice other than to jump into the lava with the train driver in his arms, hurl the driver several feet in front of him to safety, and accept his fate as he slowly melts to death in the lava.

It's an hilarious but totally bada** scene that doesn't make much sense at all, but again is pretty much the only scene of this movie that people actually remember.
