7. X-24 Kills Charles - Logan
Death scenes don't come much more shocking or unexpected than Charles Xavier's sudden demise at the end of Logan's second act.
While Charles and Logan are resting at the Munsons' farm, Xander Rice unleashes his secret weapon, the Wolverine clone known as X-24, which promptly stabs Charles through the chest with its adamantium claws, mortally wounding him.
Though a brutal orgy of violence follows, Charles' demise unquestionably hits the hardest, especially as he never got to tell Logan that this was the best night he'd had in a long time (he unknowingly said it to X-24 instead). At least Charles was able to realise he wasn't actually killed by Logan before passing away, though.
This was a fantastic death scene that was appropriately low-key for the type of movie James Mangold was making: there's no swelling orchestral score or minute-long death soliloquy. He's there one moment, and then he's gone, and both Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman sold the moment beautifully.
