15 Best Horror Movies To Watch On Netflix This Halloween

6. The Babadook

One of last year's surprise sleeper hits, The Babadook marks one of the best horror films of recent years (next to the as yet unavailable to stream It Follows), and it's certainly the best on Netflix from the last five or so. A remarkably assured debut feature from director Jennifer Kent, The Babadook certainly puts its characters through the proverbial wringer, and Essie Davies and Noah Wiseman excel at it, the pair playing mother Amelia and son Samuel respectively as they war with both the supernatural and each othe - one of the most refreshing things about The Babadook is that is shows Amelia actively hating her son at times, a natural reaction in life and one not present in most films because they're too busy trying to show love between a parent and child as unconditional. Backed up by some brilliant, hallucinatory sequences and a monster which actually looks like it could go on to be iconic in its design, The Babadook is definitely a Halloween essential, for this year and many more to come.
