15 Best Horror Movies To Watch On Netflix This Halloween
7. Sleepy Hollow
Other than maybe Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Sleepy Hollow is the last Tim Burton film to truly showcase the director's unique talents (that it was released sixteen years ago should tell you something about the director's monumental decline). One of the best looking Gothic horror films ever made, Sleepy Hollow sees Johnny Depp's (in one of his best roles) Ichabod Crane sent to the titular town to investigate a series of decapitations, believed to be the work of the infamous apparition, The Headless Horseman. A pretty straightforward horror is here elevated by the once dream-team of Burton and Depp, the former bringing his curious, offbeat special effects, the latter his undeniable charm and star-power. Part satire, part straight horror, Sleepy Hollow marks one of the Depp-Burton axis' best films. As a side-note, try figuring out who the Headless Horseman is before the big reveal. You probably won't be able to, but you'll be kicking yourself when you see him.
