15 Best Movie Deaths Of 2017

14. Wonder Woman – Steve Trevor

All too often in superhero movies, character deaths don’t feel all that impactful. What with all the fake deaths and retconning that goes on within the genre, there’s always the chance an apparently dead character might make a surprise return which lessens the impact of a lot of deaths.

Steve Trevor’s death in Wonder Woman didn’t feel like that at all: as a mere mortal his death felt real, permanent and most of all heart-rending.

Hijacking a German bomber loaded with a tonne of Dr Isabel Maru’s super-deadly mustard gas and headed for the shores of Dear Old Blighty to obliterate the population of London, Steve – an adrenaline-fuelled mix of happiness, fear and sadness on his pretty little face – blows the plane up mid-flight, saving the day (but not the world; that’s Wonder Woman’s job) and a whole load of Londoners in the process.

A noble death for a heroic man. It’s only a shame we didn’t get to see the love between Steve and Diana blossom a little more. Sigh.
