We’ll have to wait until Logan to see a glorious, uncut berserker rage from our friend Wolverine, but Apocalypse gave us a preview of what it might look like. His uncredited cameo here finds him in Weapon X form, where he wakes up unhappy and proceeds to massacre a base full of seriously unlucky guards.

Jackman manages to tap into Logan’s bottom well of anger while stabbing the crap out of everything in sight, and unlike the cartoony CG that plagued the other action scenes in the film, this sequence is cleanly shot and choreographed. They even managed to sneak in the occasional blood splash, in spite of the rating.

It’s a scene that also makes you pity the next actor to play Wolverine, because even in a short, wordless appearance, Jackman utterly dominates.
