15 Best Movie Trailers Of 2017
3. Blade Runner 2049
Though Blade Runner's marketing campaign may not have translated to a gangbusters box office, it did a fantastic job selling the movie to those already acquainted with the original film, while admirably barely hinting at the movie's overarching narrative.
The first official trailer had it all: call-backs to the first film (Atari), Roger Deakins' eye-wateringly beautiful cinematography, intriguing ambiguity, Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford facing off, and an entrancing synth score.
The trailer deserves extra points for refusing to reveal the true nature of characters such as K (Gosling) and Joi (Ana de Armas), which given the riskiness of the project is pretty damn shocking. If a trailer this amazing can't sell your movie, what the hell can?
