15 Best Movies Of 2019 (So Far)
10. Spider-Man: Far From Home
Following up Avengers: Endgame was always going to be a gargantuan task, but Spider-Man: Far From Home made the correct decision to go smaller, and deliver a more personal superhero tale where the entire fate of the universe wasn’t hanging in the balance.
Though taking Spidey out of New York could have been a disaster, Peter Parker’s gap year was everything you'd expected from this new John Hughes-inspired version of the wall crawler, with even more time spent on developing Peter’s relationship with his classmates, MJ and himself than in Homecoming.
Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio isn’t quite at the level of Michael Keaton’s Vulture, but he’s still one of the MCU’s most layered antagonists, and the actor brings an infectious amount of theatricality to the role. Far From Home could have felt throwaway, but it’s more ambitious than its predecessor, and delivers some genuinely jaw-dropping moments of visual spectacle.
