12. First Look At Glenn Close As Nova Prime

Glenn Close seems like an odd casting choice for a big budget, tentpole superhero film, but she looks surprisingly awesome as Nova Prime Irani Rael, though she looks like she just got off the train from The Capitol after watching the latest Hunger Games. She's the leader of the Nova Corps., who operate out of Xandar and protect the entire galaxy (they're kinda like S.H.I.E.L.D. but in space. And hopefully not infiltrated by Space Hydra). According to the official character description, she "defines her mission above all to protect the citizens of Xandar and keep peace," something I doubt will come easy for her with the Guardians wreaking havoc and escaping from their custody. Behind Rael we see a badass looking Nova Corps. officer, and in the foreground we can just make out the side of John C. Reilly (who's playing Nova Corps. officer Rhomann Dey). Still no word on whether the Nova Corps. will remain true to the comics, including the Worldmind on Xandar that's run by living computers, that recruits people into the Corps. when it's threatened; or the Nova Force that officers can access and gain special powers. If this film proves successful, and people like the Corps., perhaps there's a Nova solo film in the franchise's future? Let's hope so.
