2. Studio Ghibli Shutting Down?

studio ghibli We've been hearing rumors of Studio Ghibli disbanding for several years now, most notably of which was last year when director and co-founder Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement. Those rumors intensified this week when a poorly translated Tumblr post began making the rounds, suggesting that Studio Ghibli was closing down for good. In truth, the studio is still operational, but is seeking some time to "rebuild" and "restructure" the way they do things. According to Anime News Network:
"While there has been talk among some about dissolving the studio outright, Suzuki emphasized that the truth is that the studio is considering €œhousecleaning€ or restructuring for now. The end result would be €œrebuilding€ the studio and creating an environment for the next generation. On what to do with Studio Ghibli's future, it is by no means impossible to keep producing forever."
So, let's not panic. Yet. We still have more Studio Ghibli films to look forward to, including next year's When Marnie Was There.
