9. Taylor Kitsch Offered The Lead In The Raid Remake
Speaking of Taylor Kitsch, The Expendables 3 director Patrick Hughes must not know about the box office curse placed on the young actor, because he's just offered him the lead role in his remake of The Raid. According to TheWrap, Kitsch has been offered the headlining role in the remake of Gareth Evans' 2011 action film of the same name, and will join Captain America: The Winter Soldier's Frank Grillo. Other names that have been tossed around in conjuction with theirs are The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug's Luke Evans, Captain America: The Winter Soldier's Anthony Mackie, and Ethan Hawke, none of whom have officially signed on. Whether or not an American remake of the beloved and acclaimed action film, a mere three or four years after its release, is a good idea or not is certainly up for debate, but Hughes seems intent on making the film happen and hopes to begin filming in January 2015. If Kitsch lands one of the lead roles in True Detective it may keep him from jumping on board The Raid, so we'll keep you posted about this one as it develops.
