10. Elisabeth Moss And Vince Vaughn Circle True Detective Season 2
This week we heard several interesting announcements regarding the second season of HBO's massive hit miniseries True Detective. For months we've been wondering who would replace Emmy nominees Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as the series' stars, and now the new cast is coming into focus. We've heard that Taylor Kitsch and Colin Farrell were closing in on deals for the series, and learned this week that Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss, Battlestar Galactica and The Killing's Michelle Forbes, and Vince Vaughn were all in talks to sign on as well. According to TheWrap, Kitsch, Farrell, and Moss will be playing the three law enforcement leads, while Vaughn will play the season's main antagonist. The plot this season will focus on the suspicious death of corrupt California city manager Ben Caspar, whose body is found on a desolate stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway with satanic symbols etched into his chest. Moss will take on the role of no-nonsense Monterey sheriff Ani Bezzerides, who has developed alcohol and gambling addictions due to an unhappy childhood; Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, who has his own personal and professional issues; Kitsch will play military veteran Paul Woodrugh, and Vaughn will be the less-than-villainous businessman Frank Semyon, who's been working with the mayor on plans for a high-speed train linking Southern and Northern California. Forbes' role, on the other hand, is a bit more mysterious, though TheWrap suggests she'll likely play Farrell's ex or Vaughn's wife. None of the actors have officially signed the dotted line just yet, but after the success of the first season (and the accolades that followed), it likely won't take much convincing.
