13. The Asset Killed Jason Bourne's Dad - Jason Bourne
It's revealed late in the movie that the Asset (Vincent Cassel) who relentlessly pursues Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) throughout the movie was actually the very man who assassinated his father Richard Webb (Gregg Henry) many years prior.
Why It's Dumb: This is just lazily thrown in for a cheap twist ahead of the final showdown despite the fact that it seems overly convenient and completely strips away the movie's moral ambiguity.
It made the Asset surprisingly sympathetic when we learned that he had a vendetta against Bourne due to his Blackbriar leaks causing his cover to be compromised, resulting in him being tortured.
That was turned on its head when we find out the Asset had been involved with Bourne a long time before and assassinated his dad. It felt so wildly unnecessary when it would've made so much more sense narratively and thematically for the kill to be performed by a random asset.
