Saw is regarded as a modern horror classic, yet it still has a rotten RT score?

Reviewers often give unfair scores to horror films but this particular case is utterly ridiculous. Saw's lower score largely seems to be based on the fact that it's gory, which makes no sense.

Inferior horror films such as the previously mentioned The Loved Ones and Piranha 3D, were largely praised for being gory and twisted, so to rip on a far better movie for being gory and twisted is completely unfair.

Saw isn't perfect, but it's still a good horror movie and by far the best of the Saw franchise. Boasting a great ending, stylish direction from James Wan, suspenseful set-pieces and plenty of interesting meditations on morality and the will to live, Saw is a clever, thrilling and thoroughly entertaining thrill ride that, in no way, deserves such a low score. The lower RT rating is probably because many critics aren't into this kind of horror film, so there will have been inevitable bias.

On the subject of RT scores, installments two (37%), six (39%) and eight (35%) also have unfairly low ratings on the site.

Should Be Rated: 70%-80%
