15 Films That Only Needed One Scene To Become Legendary
5. The Dress And The Subway Grate - The Seven Year Itch (1955)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slfkiWZ7ozIThe Movie: The Seven Year Itch is the oldest film on this list, but it's safe to say the classic film's appeal hasn't waned at all, thanks to the ever-nubile Marilyn Monroe.
In the film, Richard (Tom Ewell) sends his wife and kids to Maine for vacation, but his intentions are less admirable and more selfish: He's the one who really wants to get away. Richard is smack in the middle of a sultry summer in New York City and experiences the titular itch (which refers to a man's desire to be unfaithful in his seventh year of marriage) when he meets Ms. Monroe in all of her full-bodied glory.
The Legendary Scene: Among the many beautiful, sometimes haunting images there are of Marilyn Monroe, perhaps the most memorable comes from this moment. Marilyn with nary a hint of hurt in her eyes, is bright, ebullient even, as her white dress is whipped up while she stands over subway grates. As Marilyn's married neighbor looks on, his desire for her is heightened, and it’s hard to blame him.
