Despite only directing movies since the turn of the decade, Matthew Heineman hasn't put a foot wrong yet, with Escape Fire, Cartel Land and City of Ghosts being some of the finest documentaries of the 2010s so far. With A Private War though, set to release in November, the filmmaker is taking those skills to the realm of fiction for the first time.

Well, kinda.

Based on the article Marie Colvin’s Private War, Rosumund Pike stars as the titular journalist who died while covering the Siege of Homs in Syria. It's interesting that Heineman has opted to tell this story conventionally rather than craft a documentary surrounding it, but it's still shaping up to be something special.
