15 Foreign Language Horror Movie Gems Hidden On Netflix
11. The Monitor (2011)
The original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo herself, Noomi Rapace, stars in this tense Swedish-Norwegian horror-thriller (also known as Babycall in some markets) as a single mother who escapes her abusive husband with her 8-year-old son to a secret location in an old apartment building. Frightened that her husband will find them, she buys a baby monitor for her sons room. But when it starts picking up strange noises from elsewhere in the building, she is forced to relive the nightmare she thought shed escaped. Its a slower film than the heightened concept might suggest but rewards those who stick with it with an uneasy sense of menace and uncertainty as youre never quite sure if what the woman is experiencing is real or just in her head.
