15 Foreign Language Horror Movie Gems Hidden On Netflix

11. The Monitor (2011)

The original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo herself, Noomi Rapace, stars in this tense Swedish-Norwegian horror-thriller (also known as Babycall in some markets) as a single mother who escapes her abusive husband with her 8-year-old son to a secret location in an old apartment building. Frightened that her husband will find them, she buys a baby monitor for her son€™s room. But when it starts picking up strange noises from elsewhere in the building, she is forced to relive the nightmare she thought she€™d escaped. It€™s a slower film than the heightened concept might suggest but rewards those who stick with it with an uneasy sense of menace and uncertainty as you€™re never quite sure if what the woman is experiencing is real or just in her head. Available on Canadian Netflix
