15 Funniest Times Movies Broke The Fourth Wall
6. Monty Python And The Holy Grail
In the middle of Monty Python And The Holy Grail, a historian is speaking to the camera about King Arthur and his knights. This documentary-style interlude is abruptly cut short as the historian is swiftly killed by one of the knights. It's a funny joke that seems to be a one-off throwaway gag.
King Arthur manages to cross the Bridge of Death after defeating the bridge-keeper in a battle of wits. His knights then assemble behind him, dozens of armor-clad men converging together, preparing for swift and brutal action.
King Arthur begins his rousing speech to rally his troops in the style of King Henry V's St. Crispin's Day speech. As the troops charge, they are cut short by a police cruiser that darts in front of them. King Arthur is grabbed by a detective and tossed in the back of a paddy wagon for his role in the historian's death, bringing the movie to a fittingly ludicrous ending.
