15 Good Horror Films That Totally Lost It By The End
1. It Follows
The Film:
It Follows is one of the best horror films of the decade. A very chilling story about a sexually transmitted curse which involves an entity always walking towards whoever is unfortunate enough to have it. If it catches the person, they die. Boasting dazzling cinematography, a great soundtrack and terrifying scares, this is mostly an awesome horror movie.
The Ending:
It Follows is one of those horror films which is so creepy you'll probably never watch it again. However, another reason why you probably won't watch it again is that the ending is less than satisfactory to say the least.
The final battle involves the lead, Jay, and her friends luring the entity to a swimming pool and trying to electrocute it. Look, we all know young people in horror films are stupid, but surely no-one would actually think that this was the way to stop the monster? This swimming pool finale is very underwhelming and largely scare-free compared to the rest of the film and leaves the ending open in a pretty lazy way.
Whether the monster is dead or not isn't stated, and Jay starts a relationship with one of her friends. It ends there, and this is an ambiguous ending that really doesn't work. With both this largely underwhelming finale and frustratingly open-ended conclusion, this is basically the epitome of a strong horror film that failed to sustain the terror the whole way through and dropped the ball at the end.
