Does exactly what it says on the tin. Arthur Penn€™s seminal movie proved fairly shocking upon its release and this matter-of-fact tagline is a strong indicator of why that proved to be. The relaxed attitude to violence and the glorification of the infamous criminal duo was all new to the American public, but it paved the way for a generation of new filmmakers to tackle more dangerous subject matter. Coming at the tail-end of Production Code era, Bonnie and Clyde stood out as a new and daring style of filmmaking rarely seen since the heyday of the Jimmy Cagney mobster movie of the early 1930's. Here was a film about two lovers out on a violent rampage for kicks complete with one of the bloodiest death scenes in movie history. This was the era of 'New Hollywood' where sex and violence were once again fair cinematic game.
