15 Horror Movie Remakes Coming In 2020 (And Beyond)
5. The Tommyknockers
In the wake of It's success, we were always going to get a slew of Stephen King projects on the big and small screens as his stock rose once more. Coming up in the next couple of years is a new adaptation of his 1987 novel The Tommyknockers, which was previously an ABC miniseries, which plainly sucked, to put it mildly.
James Wan - yes, him again - will add to his horror credits by readapting the book that King himself has called "awful" as recently as 2014.
Producer Larry Santisky told The Hollywood Reporter that “It is an allegorical tale of addiction (Stephen was struggling with his own at the time), the threat of nuclear power, the danger of mass hysteria and the absurdity of technical evolution run amuck. All are as relevant today as the day the novel was written. It is also a tale about the eternal power of love and the grace of redemption."
It's a story about the effects a mysterious alien gas has on a town in Maine as its townspeople come to terms with new abilities their bloodlust. King might not be a huge fan, but there is a good story in there so it's worth another go.
