15 Horror Movies You Probably Didn't Know Were Based On Books
10. John Dies At The End
If you aren't familiar with this 2012 charmer, then get yourself acquainted with it ASAP as it is a modern cult classic that's almost indescribable in its strangeness.
John Dies At The End is an objectively weird movie based on the even weirder 2007 novel by David Wong. The story follows two burnt-out college drop-outs as they try to save the world from a new drug called Soy Sauce that has some truly otherworldly side effects. There's also a literal meat monster, an eldritch supercomputer god, demonic insects, and inter-dimensional travel. It's a lot.
The book is the first in a series with the other two entries being 2012's This Book is Full of Spiders: Seriously Dude, Don't Touch It and 2017's What The Hell Did I Just Read. Wong has announced that he is working on a fourth installment that is currently unnamed, but if the other titles tell us anything we can expect it to be something absolutely bonkers.
