15 Insufferable Movie Protagonists That Ruined Their Movies
5. Henry - The Book Of Henry
The Book of Henry has Henry, a twelve-year-old played by Jaeden Lieberher (Bill in 2017's It). He's a precocious child genius... and a complete, full-on, evil psychopath.
When Henry discovers his next-door neighbor and crush is being abused by her stepfather, the police commissioner, he tries to find a way to stop it through official channels but fails, so he comes up with a new plan: get a sniper rifle and kill the stepfather. Unfortunately, that's not a typo. This is a 12-year-old who not only fantasizes about killing someone, but is all set to go through with it.
Ignoring the logical issues (such as: why couldn't he have placed audio or video recorders in the house to get evidence of the abuse?) this is pretty horrendous all around. Even prior to this reveal, Henry is snarky and condescending to everyone he encounters and in general doesn't come across as a terribly nice person. There are many annoying movie kids out there, but at least they don't try to kill people.
Luckily, his plan is never carried out, but his mother nearly goes through with it after Henry's mid-film death from a brain tumor.
