15 Massively Underrated Movies From The 2010s
4. 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
With its viral marketing campaign and launch of a million theories, Cloverfield changed the game back in 2008, but there were no real signs of a sequel until just a couple of months before its release, when a trailer dropped and the title 10 Cloverfield Lane was revealed.
Cue insane hype, but a very different movie. 10CL isn't anything like Cloverfield, and for the most part you wouldn't even know they're connected, but that also shows just how strong this franchise can be when getting things right. Instead of a found-footage horror, we have a terse, psychological thriller with terrific performances from Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman.
The bunker setting means director Dan Trachtenberg gets very clever with his shots, allowing things to get really claustrophobic and intense to create a palpable sense of dread throughout the movie. It has just 7.2 on IMDb, 7.5 on RT, and while it's better than its predecessor, it doesn't have anything close to the same legacy.
