15 Memorable Moments From This Year's Oscars

10. Politics. Politics Everywhere.

2015's Oscar ceremony might go down as one of the most politically loaded in history. Even before it began, there was drama, as Reese Witherspoon refused to disclose who designed her dress, insisting that the focus should be on the person wearing the clothes above all else. Then, once the speeches actually started, this tenor only accelerated: Patricia Arquette talked about ecology and the wage gap between men and women, which was met with particular adulation by Meryl Streep and Shirley Maclaine. Then later on, John Legend talked about how many black men the U.S. incarcerates, and even Alejandro González Iñárritu couldn't resist taking some shots at the Mexican government and championing immigration in his Best Director speech.
