15 Most Anticipated Sci-Fi Movies Coming In 2021

Dune was supposed to arrive in cinemas on December 18th, but was understandably pushed back. Unfortunately, the delay is a significant one, because Denis Villeneuve's highly anticipated reboot now won't arrive until October 1st, next year!

The cast is out of this world - Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem are among the highlights - and the visuals are truly going to be out of this world if the trailer below is any indication (no great surprise after Blade Runner 2049).

Like the original, the story looks set to revolve around "spice," an all-important drug which can be used to extend life, essentially give people super-smarts, and even open the door to "faster-than-light travel" as the synopsis describes it. Unsurprisingly, there are going to be a lot of people vying for that drug.

The sandworms redesign has been somewhat controversial, but this looks mind-blowing.
