13. Kurse (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Kurse will appear in the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Thor: The Dark World, which is due for an international release at the end of October. He will be played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and will be an ally to Christopher Eccleston's Malekith the Accursed. Kurse is likely to be the physically toughest foe that this version of Thor will have faced to date. In the Thor comics, he begins life as Algrim the Strong and is coerced in to fighting Thor by Malekith. Malekith betrays Kurse in an attempt to kill both him and Thor, but Thor survives unharmed, while Algrim falls in to lava and is critically injured. He develops amnesia and meets the cosmic entity the Beyonder, who doubles Algrim's strength, turning him in to Kurse, and sends him to fight Thor again. When Thor arrives with a belt of strength to enhance his own powers, the Beyonder doubles Algrim's strength yet again, making him four times as strong as Thor is at base level. If he is anywhere near as powerful as his comic book counterpart in relation to Thor, the Asgardian could be in for one hell of a fight.
