One of the more impressively consistent horror anthologies of the last few years, Ghost Stories is a darkly comic adaptation of Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson's famed stage play, bolstered by splendid performances from Nyman himself, Martin Freeman, Paul Whitehouse and Alex Lawther.

This is absolutely a movie best seen with as little knowledge as possible, but know simply that each of the stories musters up its fair share of chilly intrigue, leading to an incredibly surprising and satisfying finale.

There are a couple of pointless jump scares, but otherwise this preserves the cleverness of the source material exceptionally well, and has cult classic potential written all over it.
