15 Most Exciting Movies Coming In March 2020

4. Beneath Us

While the genre of immigration horror is a pretty new one, it has its origins the very real fear of how those in power often mistreat or commoditize those without. Films like Beneath Us have as much in common with The Stepford Wives as they do more obvious relations like Get Out.

Written by Max Pachman and Mark Mavrothalasitis, and marking Pachman's directorial debut, Beneath Us has been in the works for the better part of a decade. The film asks a simple question: what happens to undocumented day labourers when their work is done. In this particular case, the home they're building turns from a realization of the American Dream they were all chasing into an American Nightmare when the couple who hired them locks them in the basement.

Beneath Us premiered at the Phoenix Film Festival last year, where it was praised for its slow build. Plenty of background details and throwaway lines allow you to see the slow imprisonment of these workers while keeping it believable that they haven't figured out what's happening to them yet. You find yourself increasingly intrigued at their situation, wondering when they'll figure it out, and how they can possibly escape.

Beneath Us will be in cinemas from March 6th.

After hearing that you are what you eat, Mik took a good hard look at his diet and realised he might just be a szechuan spare rib alongside prawn fried rice.
