15 Most Heart-Wrenching Moments In MCU History
8. The Death Of Odin - Thor: Ragnarok
Happy families don't really happen in the Marvel Universe. The closest you get is Aunt May and Peter Parker, and that only happened - presumably - after a dead Uncle Ben. But, for a moment, it seemed like the Asgardian royalty were... all right.
After Thor realized that his brother had survived, taken over Asgard, and hidden Odin, Thor and Loki go on another one of their wacky trips and it seems like the two are back to what they used to be - brothers: annoying, annoyed brothers.
And then they find their father. And he's not mad about Loki's trickery. It's Loki, that's who he is, that's what he does. Thor is welcomed in as well, not told he's unworthy, or even lambasted for taking so long to realize his father was gone.
The three of them are for the first time in thousands of years (and about five movies), at peace.
And then Odin fades away, Hela comes, and everything turns sour. Thor loses his home, his brother, his surrogate brother, half of his people, a space ship, an eye, and then his shape. He loses every single thing, and it all starts here, with the death of Odin.
