11. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
A lot of the sequels this year seem to love colons, with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (or Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge as it will be known in the UK) another one to add to the slate. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise began with a swashbuckling adventure that evoked the fun adventure movies of days gone by. Johnny Depp's hilarious, endearing Jack Sparrow was an instantly iconic hit and audiences everywhere excitedly wondered what would come next.
Unfortunately what came next was terrible and the series has been slowly sinking ever since.
The trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 though is shows some surprising promise. The haunting, gloomy aesthetic looks to have made a return from the first film along with a team of walking dead pirates seeking revenge. So far so similar, except on this voyage fan favourite Jack Sparrow will be pursued by the terrifying Javier Bardem, who looks to be putting in a truly terrifying performance.
The anticipation for Dead Men Tell No Tales may not be very high, but the addition of Bardem as the black ooze spitting villain makes this one to look out for regardless of your feelings for its predecessors.
