15 Most Important Film Sequels Coming In 2017
10. T2 Trainspotting
The release of the first Trainspotting in the late 90s hit a real nerve both culturally and cinematically. The 'choose life or love or...heroin' speech adorned the walls of many a student who finally had the words to describe their general feelings of outsider malaise.
Somewhat based on the sequel to the novel, the film picks up 20 years later as Ewan McGregor's Renton returns to Scotland to catch up with friends while avoiding psychotic acquaintance Francis "Franco" Begbie and the allure of mind-altering drugs. Much like most reunions then. On a side note the title of the novel has been changed from Porno to T2 in an attempt to avoid the wrong kind of audience whilst at the same time confusing people into thinking it's Terminator 2. Well played, Danny Boyle.
The major concern here is the length of time between the films. Rarely is a sequel any good after so many years and really what is the likelihood it will have the same impact as the first.
