With this one, everyone had very low expectations due to the troubled production and maybe that's why reviewers let it off so much, but that still doesn't make the generally positive reviews World War Z received particularly just. Yes, it wasn't as bad as we feared but it still wasn't very good.
It's a pitifully tame zombie movie with an outrageous lack of gore and none of the political and social commentary that made the book it's based on popular. To make matters worse, the zombies don't even look like zombies and instead look like a poorly-rendered crowd of angry football fans. It's also full of plot holes; in one scene a plane the protagonist Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) is on crashes but he just gets up and walks away without a scratch.
It's very hard to care that the sequel was cancelled, since it would've no doubt been a huge waste of money.
