15 Most Overrated Horror Films Since 2000
8. A Tale Of Two Sisters
Rotten Tomatoes: 85% (Average Score: 7.1/10)
IMDb: 7.2
South Korean cinema is one of the very best national cinemas in the world and South Korean films are usually brilliant; unfortunately, this one doesn't quite work and the critical acclaim was excessive.
This has many elements in the right place. The cinematography, performances and jump scares are strong but it's one of the worst bits of storytelling in horror history and that's saying something. The sheer amount of confusing twists and reveals make it genuinely impossible to tell what the hell is going on.
During the second half of the film, you'll spend more time trying to unravel the convoluted narrative than actually following the story, so this more or less ruins the entire movie.
If all the critics who lavished praise over this film were able to keep up with it so well, I envy them. The Rotten Tomatoes consensus does acknowledge this film gets confusing at times but critics definitely went too easy on this given how bad its storytelling truly is.
