David Beckham's pointless cameo might have elicited one of the biggest WTF moments of the year, but the excellent Eden's use of electronic music royalty was memorable for entirely different reasons. The semi-biographical tale feels like a Forest Gump meets 24 Hour Party People history of the rise of French house music and specifically of Daft Punk. Their involvement shouldn't be underplayed: as well as being an important narrative presence the pair also allowed their music to be used at the lowest possible license fee level, helping production progress after financial problems. And somewhat atypically for the secretive pair, they actually appear in the film without their trademark masks, giving fans a rare opportunity to see them perform as themselves.
