7. Returning To The House - Blair Witch

Whisper it, but the 2016 reboot/sequel of The Blair Witch Project was far and away better than the original, genre-defining movie. Picking up decades after the first film as another group of campers attempt to retrace the steps of Heather, Josh, and Mike, this follow-up essentially runs through the same beats from the first flick, only this time actually makes them scary.

Things get much weirder than in the original movie though, as characters find themselves stuck in time-warps, trapped in the woods and tormented by an unseen presence. After that things start to unhinge in a ridiculously terrifying way when the surviving characters return to the iconic house from the first movie.

Being chased by what could be the titular Witch herself, the characters are put through a gauntlet of horror as they navigate the surreal house, only to realise they were always destined to arrive here, ever since the events that occurred back in 1999.

Not only is it shocking because it's spooky as all hell, but the fear is felt on a deeper level because the finale connects so well to the original movie, bringing the horror full circle in a complete gut-punch of an ending.
