5. Fulfilling The Prophecy - VHS 2

By far the most ambitious vignette in any of the VHS movies to date is the first sequel's penultimate story, Safe Haven. Following a group of filmmakers as they investigate a shadowy cult that resides in isolation in the mountains, it's revealed that they aren't simply there to make a movie, but to be part of a brutal sacrificial ritual.

Although the scares are initially pretty grounded, rooted in the violent actions the cult members do in the name of their god, all believability is thrown out the window when the ritual they perform literally brings about the birth of the Antichrist.

In the final few moments everything goes to hell, as cult members start committing suicide, naked people are bathing in blood and a huge, horned creature starts tearing people apart like they're nothing but bags of gore.

It's so over the top that it could have came across as comedic, but the blood-splattered, fire-and-brimstone finale accomplishes more in the span of ten minutes than most horror movies do in 90.
