The argument for gross movie posters advertising a horror film could go on until the sun rises in the West and sets in the East, any maybe movies like the Saw franchise earned their right to use toes, teeth and shaped earlobes to advertise their movies, but at the end of the day this is more disgusting than boring.

Call me a prude, but I would argue that horror films can be more creative in a contemporary setting, but when it comes to the marketing for a film, most horror film posters narrow down to two stock images of either a rotting house or mangled body parts.

At least audiences know what they are going to get from a film that advertises itself with amputated fingers and feet, but also when you look at the posters for VHS, Sinister and even House of Wax, the subject matter of the film is used in the advertising.

Horror movie fans expect a few body parts to be detached from a movie victim, and perhaps the surprise of what body parts could be left in the film? And instead, horror movie posters could try for something a little more original?

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
