The Original: Though Goon flew low under the radar upon its 2011 release, it scored unexpectedly strong critical reviews (an impressive 82% on Rotten Tomatoes) and, despite a poor box office showing, has endured as a cult favourite. If you thought Seann William Scott was only capable of playing Stifler-like characters, think again. The Sequel: Michael Dowse is returning to direct this wildly unexpected sequel, while Jay Baruchel will also be back to co-write the script, and of course, what would the movie be without Scott? In a Reddit AMA last month, Scott said that he's currently fight and skate training ahead of the shoot, which begins in mid-June. Will It Be Any Good?: After the first movie's performance, it'll probably end up on VOD, which suits a project like this just fine. Though it's best not to expect a movie on-par with the original, there's clearly a lot of passion from everyone involved, and given that nobody will be getting rich off of it, that makes sense.
